Beloved “Mac” McElhaney, better known as "Grandpa", will be missed by many. Just about everyone in and around knew Mac, one way or another. Fruit and vegetable lovers, Mac was the guy with Bronco at the stand in Wheatland every week. He loved helping out there!
If you went to a garage sale in Wheatland, chances are you saw Mac there--or he'd been there already, looking for treasures to bring home to his wife, Faye. He never missed a garage sale! Or, Mac might have waved at you from his yard, which he enjoyed taking care of, along with tending Grandma's flowers. Mac was a cook in the Navy, and brought that home with him--one of his top priorities in life was making grilled cheese sandwiches and chocolate milk for his grandkids.
If you bought a ticket over the years for the Chairbound Hunters annual gun raffle, Mac might have been the one who sold it to you, because he never missed an opportunity to make a sales pitch for this great cause. A Memorial Fund is being set up in Mac's honor with Chairbound Hunters. Donations to the fund will go to help handicapped hunters who qualify for but can't afford a hunt with Chairbound Hunters.
Please share your memories or photos of Mac with us here on the Memorial Guest Book.
